To my SD/OC cookin foodies...the ham has arrived. And I'm doing my
level best to keep my mitts off of it until Sattidy.

Sit on your hands. ;)
I have something in my car for you, if you can successfully keep your
paws to yourself. Plus an essential accompaniment to the ham.

Well, while you guys are having your cook-in this Saturday, we're having a
Florida cook-in, BBQ thingy *next* Saturday. Shoots, wish we could have
coordinated better so that we could be doing it "together", so-to-speak.

Yes? <she said brightly, blinking furiously in anticipation> BTW, that
is some big ham! It also came with a jar of watermelon rind pickles
<shudder> and a packet of "Country Ham Glaze."
Two days to go!

Don't shudder at the watermelon rind pickles!!!!
They go marvelously with the ham, believe it or not. I had been
talking to Boli about them....I didn't have time to make some myself,
as the homemade ones take several months to age. Same with the other
condiments that are good with that type of ham, like pickled peaches.
Didn't have time to fix those either...
Better have something to draw straws with, if there is a
hambone....cause them hambones makes some mighty fine soup and
things....
Guess I better shut up now, or I will be giving away all the secret
dishes of the cook-in.
I just finished getting all my stuff to cook..... I might show up
overloaded with stuff...again.....
Make room in your freezer for a bottle of limoncello..it needs to be
ice cold when it is poured. I started to say, when drunk, but that
might be us.....;)

Hey! Possession is 9/10 of the law and IIRC, that ham is sitting in
*my* refrigerator <veg>

I about worked myself to death today, but I think everything's ready.

I cleared a space already. I've also made a Berry Rum Punch that's
percolating as I keyboard.

One advantage of hosting the cookin is being able to reel into one's
own bedroom. Be sure to lock up as you leave, heh heh.

Too bad about the peaches. I love pickled peaches. I really am looking
forward to the ham -- and your accompaniment!

I have my foot on it and am growling....figuratively of course. A necessity
for a good pea soup!

I am finishing up my stuff tonight. I also need to get the booze mix ready.
I always leave stuff until the last moment. <sigh>

Geez, it's been about 8 years or so since I've been to a cook-in in San
Diego. Time flies when life happens, huh?
