Just got my first box of spices from Penzeys (from online -
penzeys.com). For somebody like me who pickles a lot, the savings in
mustard seed alone ($7/pound vs. store bought $23/pound) is enormous.
Also allspice, peppercorns & mace a very good bargain. The only place
I've seen real blade mace - a little goes a long way. A 4 ounce bag is
about pint bag full and should last me for years. I use it in pickled
peaches esp. Also tried a new blend - Sunny Paris, a no salt herb
blend with shallots predominant. Very nice. PS I don't get a
kickback. PPS Have found the pickling spice blend from _Joy of
Pickling_ to be very compatible with shrimp or crab boil. If you
multiply the recipe, mind you don't multiply the peppers w/seeds.
Unless you like it really hot. Pass the pepto.

Error - that was mustard seed [at] $3.60/lb + shipping. Even better, no?
